Quest of a soul

Darkness everywhere, I am swimming blind. Heartbeats erratic, breathing is a hiss.

Flesh or FLESH, unsure. No other way except grabbing it like a lifeline.

Almost resurfaced but something kept dragging me further deep into the abyss.

A melody, a flashback, a nagging feeling that I am missing something vitally important.

Wings rustled, somewhere there was a soft cackle. My rings flared to life.

Someone glued my eyes shut, I am unable to open them. A soft plea landed on my lips.

A child’s voice, an enraged roar, a prayer for forgiveness, a pitiful whimper surrounds me.

Cold hands gripped my waist, hoisted me up onto a platform or I assume so.

Someone pounded my chest, someone breathed into my mouth. Someone changed my clothes.

I heard screaming, then pleas for me to wake up, an order so sure I must obey and fight.

Somewhere a gong sounded, a gentle breeze caressed my face, tiny fingers gripped my hands.

Thump, thump, thump. A banshee screeched, wings rustled somewhere, I was floating.

I knew the nails digging into my flesh. That should terrify me but I am utterly calm.

Fire burned in my chest, someone poured gasoline on my skull. I thrashed but the shackles held me prisoner.

Darkness everywhere, I am swimming blind. Heartbeats erratic, breathing is a hiss.
